Marissa Orr, Author of Lean-Out, Shares her Journey and More.
When I set out to develop 'The 43 Percent' podcast, I did so, in part, because I wanted to move past the binary debate of leaning-in or leaning-out to careers. I knew that how we each define success varies. I wanted to create a platform where women from multiple industries could share their more nuanced stories of navigating careers and family, fully aware that each person makes the best decision for her, whether it's leaning-in, leaning-out or something in between. So I was incredibly delighted to catch up with author and speaker, Marissa Orr for this week's episode.
In her recent book, Lean Out: The Truth About Women, Power, and the Workplace, Marissa Orr, candidly describes her experiences working for some of the largest tech companies in the world, and her decision to walk away. In our conversation, she shared more about her personal story as a mom of young children, and her detailed research on the topic of women in the workplace.
